Starting School

School started a few weeks ago and we have been having a great time. This year, our mascot is Pete the Cat and we are making Pete visible throughout our room. One of our first activities was to make magnets to hang artwork. I found these little wooden cat cutouts at Michaels in the Halloween section.

We painted them blue and put a picture on the front and a heavy duty magnet on the back. Now each child's artwork can be held up with their own magnet.

I also made an "I Can..." board. I made a large Pete the Cat face to put up over the board. On the board itself are speech bubble cutouts that list various skills - I can count to 10, I can write my name, etc. As each child accomplishes a skill, their picture will be added to the board.
