Our Class Mascot

This year, Pete the Cat is our class mascot. The children have really enjoyed the various activities that we are using during the year that are "Pete" related. For the fall, I created a "Where is Pete?" activity to work on the concepts of on and under. I spread out different colored pumpkins on the floor and placed Pete either on a pumpkin or under a pumpkin. The children had to tell me where Pete was - on the yellow pumpkin, under the red pumpkin. I also had a smaller Pete so that I could hide him under one of the pumpkins and the children had to guess where he was. They really enjoyed this activity.

You can click the image below to get this activity. Enjoy!

The Mitten

During our unit on "The Mitten," I was looking for some type of cooking activity that I could do with my class. I looked on Pinterest and a lot of different websites, but never could find anything that I felt my children could make. I finally came up with an idea and it worked great.

The idea in "The Mitten" is that all of the animals climb into a white mitten. I needed to find something white and the also had animals.  Here is what I came up with:

I purchased vanilla ice cream cups and some animal cracker cookies (I know the animals are different but it was the idea that counted). The children put their animals into the vanilla ice cream, as many as they could fit. And then they ate them! It was a great activity and the children loved it!

Snowed In

We've been snowed in for the past three days and looks like tomorrow may not be much better. This has given me lots of time to get caught up on lesson plans and games for my little ones.

I have become a big fan of Ashley Hughes graphics. I was really excited when I found some cute sneaker graphics. Spent the morning making a new color matching game.

I Love My Colored Shoes game

Maybe we will get back to normal next week.
